Remote Interpreting (RI)
Interpreting (RI)

Remote Interpreting (RI) refers to the practice of interpreting by telephone, video or Internet. The interpreters are not present at the event, instead interpreting from another location. The most common form of this type of interpreting is simultaneous, and is thus called Remote Simultaneous Interpreting (RSI).

We recommend using so-called “interpreting hubs” for interpreting of this kind as they allow the interpreters to work in professional conditions for multilingual events taking place as video or telephone conferences. Of course, video / telephone conferences are only a temporary solution and are not recommended long-term. There are many important aspects of conferences that they cannot cater to, in particular the opportunity for international participants to meet personally. However, they do make it possible to continue providing simultaneous interpreting at conferences in times of Covid-19.

Our long-term partner company for conference technology has already set up interpreting hubs for remote simultaneous interpreting. Please contact us for more information.
